Wrought iron is an iron alloy with a very low carbon content, in comparison to steel, and has fibrous inclusions, known as slag. This is what gives it a “grain” resembling wood, which is visible when it is etched or bent to the point of failure.
A tough, malleable form of iron suitable for forging or rolling rather than casting, obtained by puddling pig iron while molten. It is nearly pure but contains some slag in the form of filaments

Wrought-iron dining group and tall wrought-iron fern stand are manufactured by Arbuck, Brooklyn. Stand can be used for display of fruit or flowers. This group, designed by Paul McCobb, was introduced on the market in 1952. Heaviness in appearance and weight has been substantially reduced by the use of lighter-weight rod, and an interesting structural pattern has been created out of the needed supports. Round table has a white vitroline glass top. Maintenance problems for either indoor or outdoor use are minimized. Materials: rust-proof black wrought iron; plastic covered reversible cushions on chairs; white glass on table.
